KATMAI
VISIT KATMAI NATIONAL PARK & PRESERVE
Truly a national treasure, Katmai National Park in Alaska is over four million acres of untouched wilderness featuring some of the best fishing on the planet as well as bear viewing and wildlife photography, which are only a couple of non angler activities we offer to our guests. Thanks to this incredibly untouched roadless massive ecosystem, we have epic spawning grounds for the worlds largest run of sockeye salmon left in the world.
The small streams are too numerous to count, just like the brown bears that call this National Park home! Blue lakes filled with crystal clear water dot this landscape as well as Volcanos and the Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes.
Many people come to Katmai National Park to view the brown bears on Brooks falls. The falls has a platform viewing deck that allows guests to view the bears much like you see on the “bear cam” at one’s pleasure. Our team will escort you safely to the falls and back to “Brooks camp” which is essentially the same place but different locations on the river. There is a secondary platform, called the Riffles platform that is just downstream of the falls and offers a different perspective. The lower river platform which is in close proximity to Brooks camp allows panoramic scenic views of Naknek lake and the lower river which arches and curves beautifully and often hosts sows with cubs.
