Wow. We can’t believe opening month is finally here. Having the opportunity to watch the renovation of The Lodge at 58* North unfold has been surreal. Few people in this world get the chance to build their dream with their own two hands, and we still can’t believe it’s happening to us.
In the midst of the pandemic, the idea of owning a lodge in Alaska started to become a reality. When this property became available, we couldn’t believe our good fortune. Since the day we purchased it, we’ve spent hours dreaming and planning about what we wanted this lodge to be. Through it all, there was one thing we knew: our guests' experience was the top priority.
We know the challenges that come with owning a fishing lodge, and we believe our guests and their experiences are our highest priority.
Over these past few months, we’ve spent every day working hard to get this lodge exactly where we want it to be. Our construction crew bought into the vision and utilized their own gifts and talents to make it even better than we could have thought.
From the beginning of our dream stages, our goal was to have a boutique lodge with exceptional personal service, true hospitality and heartfelt care for each individual guest. We understand a trip to The Lodge at 58* North can be a once in a lifetime opportunity, and we don’t take that lightly.
The beauty of the Naknek River in Bristol Bay has inspired us. Our mission to provide stellar hospitality, accommodations, trip planning, food and fishing experiences is inspired entirely by our surroundings. The Scandinavian style is hard to miss. Our guest cabins and main lodge have a comfortable feel and a Nordic design.
Over the past 18 years, this lodge operated as a DIY (do it yourself) lodge with the guests doing almost everything for themselves. While we kept the spirit of hard work, we have changed it to an all-inclusive experience for all of our guests. Each person who visits deserves the opportunity to relax and enjoy all that Bristol Bay has to offer.
Since we only accommodate up to eight guests at a time, we truly can customize the experience. It’s why we encourage our guests to mention any personal things they need to feel comfortable. Our size allows us to dedicate time to each guest and provide them with anything they might need to enjoy their time. The building of the main lodge, the renovation of all the guest cabins and the updated staff housing creates a family feel.
Everyone from Chef Jason to Pilot Chris is ready to bring the spirit of Bristol Bay to our guests. We’re honored and thankful for all of the support we’ve received since we began. Past guests have provided constant encouragement and advice on how to make The Lodge at 58* North special. We can’t wait to hit the water and show you the entire experience.
