SOCKEYE SALMON

BRISTOL BAY SOCKEYE SALMON FISHING

The Bristol Bay region is home to the largest wild run of sockeye salmon in the world with recent annual runs nearing 50 million returning salmon. Our home river, the Naknek has an annual escapement goal of over 1 million fish, with daily escapement up to one hundred thousand! The Naknek tends to run very clear during July, and this makes for very interesting sight fishing opportunities, as thousands of sockeye salmon swim up the shorelines of the river. We feel that sockeye salmon are the hardest fighting salmon we encounter all summer.  They are also very good to eat!
